Bio

Jacob Tewes is an associate in Kutak Rock, LLP's Corporate Department. He practiced law in Yankton, South Dakota and earned an LL.M. in Space, Cyber, and Telecommunications Law from the University of Nebraska before joining the firm. As a member of the Intellectual Property & Information Technology Group, Mr. Tewes regularly drafts and negotiates technologically complex transactions. Mr. Tewes is also a member of the Data Security and Privacy Practice Group, where he focuses on cybersecurity, data privacy, and emerging technologies. His unique academic and professional background enables Mr. Tewes to fulfill his clients’ short-term transactional needs while laying the groundwork for long-term success in dynamic and competitive business environments. Representative work includes:


A certified private and remote pilot, Jacob is also keenly interested in all aspects of aviation. His extensive work on data security, privacy, and physical security risks related to drones and counter-drone technology during his LL.M. uniquely qualifies him to address difficult issues in that arena. He is a member of the ABA Forum on Air & Space Law, an original member of its Drone Law and General Aviation Subcommittees, and a member of the Lawyer-Pilot Bar Association.
